Why Bit Of A Buzz is our Nap

Bit Of A Buzz is the most clear-cut selection on the card today: our rating makes it the standout in the 6:32 at Bellewstown (Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden), and the market agrees it's a leading player at 3/1.

The numbers behind the pick:

What is a "Nap"?

In horse racing, a nap is a tipster's single most confident selection of the day โ€” the one bet they'd stake the most on. The term dates back to the card game Napoleon, where calling "nap" meant betting you'd win every trick.

Our Nap is chosen purely by data. Every runner on the day's UK and Irish cards is scored by our ratings model (recent form, a consensus market line, and speed figures where available). The Nap is the horse that stands out furthest from its rivals on that rating โ€” and, importantly, it's the only selection our backtesting shows a genuine, repeatable edge on.

Frequently asked questions

What does "nap" mean in horse racing?

A nap is a tipster's single most confident selection of the day โ€” the one they would stake the most on. The term comes from the card game Napoleon, where "going nap" meant betting you would win every trick.

How do you choose your Nap of the Day?

It is picked purely by data. I rate every runner on the day's UK and Irish cards on form, the market and speed figures, and the Nap is the horse my rating separates from its race by the biggest margin โ€” taken only at a fair price of roughly 2/1 or bigger.

Why don't you nap short-priced favourites?

My data shows that short favourites (odds under about 2/1) don't return a profit over time, even though they win often. Insisting on a bigger price is the single biggest difference between a losing record and a profitable one, so the Nap skips them.

What time is the Nap posted, and does it change?

The Nap is published every morning and locks once posted, so it never drifts through the day โ€” what you see is what I backed. It only ever changes if the horse becomes a non-runner.

How is the Nap record measured?

Every Nap is settled at the industry Starting Price at level one-point stakes and logged win or lose โ€” no cherry-picking. The live ROI, strike rate and full history are shown on this page and on the results page.

Is the Nap of the Day free?

Yes. The Nap, like everything on this site, is completely free โ€” there is no premium tier or paid tipping service. You can also get it free by email each morning.
